    Ministry of Agriculture to Support Trans-Baikal Farmers Affected by Emergency

    The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation will help Trans-Baikal farmers to recover from the emergency consequences, the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev stated during a working visit to the region. During the visit Mr. Patrushev met with the acting Governor of the region, Alexander Osipov and held a meeting on emergency response.

    Government Approves Grain Complex Development Strategy

    The Government of the Russian Federation approved a long-term strategy for the development of the grain complex until 2035, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture. The best-case scenario allows for the increase of grain production to 150.3 million tons per year by 2035 (+33% vs. 2018). The export would reach 63.6 million tons (+16%) by the end of the calendar year.

    Russian Grain Harvest Exceeds 50 Million Tons

    As of July 30, Russian farmers threshed 51.3 million tons of grain compared to 39.4 million tons in the same period last year. The harvested area of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 14.9 million hectares (in 2018 - 11 million hectares). In particular, 43.5 million tons of wheat were threshed from an area of 12 million hectares at a yield of 36.3 centners per hectare.
