Beef Cattle Production Grows in Russia
Beef cattle stock grows in Russia, according to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture. At the end of 2018 this breed in agricultural organizations and private farms including individual entrepreneurs exceeded 2.26 million animals, which is 8.4% more than in 2017.
Over the past year, the highest growth rate was detected in the following regions: Bryansk (+33.7 thousand animal units), Oryol (+31.8 thousand animal units), Tula (+19.1 thousand animal units), Kaluga (+15.5 thousand animal units), Smolensk (+12.7 thousand animal units) and Kaliningrad (+11.8 thousand animal units).The ministry expects that the positive trend will continue in 2019. The Ministry expects that special beef breed cattle will grow to 2.4 million animal units in 2019. State support contribute a lot to the growth of this segment. The Government takes measures aimed at sustainable development of beef cattle breeding, implementation of large investment projects and creation of highly productive herds.
