Russia seeks to expand cooperation in agriculture with Kyrgyzstan
January 30. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Sergey Levin met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the cooperation in agriculture and particularly the creation of joint ventures in this sphere, as well as the possibility of signing the Agreement on cooperation in fisheries. They also talked about cooperation in the field of seed production, organic agriculture, veterinary and phytosanitary supervision.
The parties also stated that the countries should continue developing their trade relations. In the first 11 months of 2018, agricultural products trade between Russia and Kyrgyzstan amounted to $250 million. At the same time, Russian exports to Kyrgyzstan accounted for $220 million. The main items of Russian supplies are chocolate, sunflower oil, grain products, sugar and confectionery products, as well as poultry meat.
